What is CRIWMP?

The Government of Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Green Climate Fund, launched the Climate Resilient Integrated Water Management Project (CRIWMP), also known as Wew Gam Pubuduwa, in 2017. Designed as an integrated water management initiative, the project is closely linked with the ancient cascade system, which has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage for its unique and sustainable approach to water conservation. Through this initiative, the government aims to address the challenges of climate change, improve water security, and strengthen the resilience of farming communities in Sri Lanka’s dry zones.
